One of the things we discussed was how motherhood seems to be portrayed in the media in two ways. You either get the Pinterest-perfect view of it, with the pristine white sofas and beautifully behaved children. Or you get the ‘hahaha, isn’t being a parent awful?!’ type posts. Which at least acknowledge that being a parent is hard but don’t really help at all!
So this sort of inspired me to see if I could find a more realistic quote about motherhood.
One that isn’t all sunshine and unicorns, but instead acknowledges that being a mum is a huge, chaotic mix of good, bad and everything in between.
This is the best I found:
This is a topic I’ll be writing about more, once I get my head around all the emotions that I feel every day with my 2 children, and work out how to put that into a coherent post!

You’re right it is hard to sum it up in one quote. Some moments are picture perfect, and others (like when your child is hurt) are gut wrenchingly painful. The highs and lows is something I wrote about in my #candidcuddles post this week, sometimes in a matter of hours we go from bliss to a headache! I love being a mum though, more than love it! Great quote
I think that’s the overwhelming feeling isn’t it, that there are some really tough parts but at the end of the day we still love being mums. x
Popping over from #candidcuddles =) What a beautiful quote! One to apply to life in general too I think. Embrace and celebrates those shining moments.

Very good point, it is a good way to look at life in general! x
I love this week’s quote Madeline. It’s very true. Motherhood is the toughest job out there but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Those wonderful moments make for amazing memories & the time goes by so fast! You are right on the two different kinds of posts out there. It’s nice to read a realistic portrayal of motherhood. Thank you, as always, for linking up hun x
It’s such a good quote on motherhood isn’t it! x
Ha! I agree, was she watching our lives? If you read my blog you know we are having the hard times. But there is also so much joy and love. Parenthood brings you more joy than anything, but it comes with a responsibility that can sometimes almost break you. But children are a gift and I feel that I need to live up to that, if I can. Great quote!
We’re all just doing the best we can, aren’t we, and holding out for those shining moments of joy. Hope life is looking brighter for you. xxx
Gorgeous quote. It really captures the realism of mummyhood. Thanks for sharing! #candidcuddles
It’s a great quote isn’t it! x
