Turns out he’s become a really inspirational person himself, post-uni. He turned his back on the ‘traditional’ career path and has instead built an amazing life for himself. He’s a record-breaking adventurer who’s been all around the world using unconventional modes of transport – his first expedition was a 3618 mile skateboard trip from Perth to Brisbane. He’s choosing to live life on his terms, choosing to ‘say yes more‘ and seeing where it leads him.
What I need at the moment is positivity, and hearing stories of people enjoying life, enjoying success on their own terms. So when this article from Dave popped up on my Facebook news feed the other day it was just what I needed! In the article he writes about his simple rules for getting started with making a new life for yourself. If you’re in need of a bit of positivity and some motivation then you should really go and read it. For now, I’ll leave you with my favourite rule:
If you’re really floundering, remove the safety net, then you HAVE to fly. And you can fly, you really can.

I am learning to do this. When I hear people say no or I can’t do it. I tell then Yes you just have to think how can you do it. Angela x

It is much easier to say no, isn’t it, rather than work out how we can say yes! I do like my comfort zone but I’m working at saying yes to things to push myself out of it! x
I agree– we get what we need when we are open to change. Nothing new or motivational is going to happen to us if we avoid change in our lives. We just have to be brave and, like Dave said, FLY!! 😉 #candidcuddles
What’s the saying, keep doing what you’ve always done and you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got! Time to say yes to some new things and make some changes! x
Saying yes more is the way forward – you will find yourself doing, and more importantly loving, things that you wouldn’t normally have even considered. I LOVE the quote about removing your safety net! #candidcuddles

It’s a great quote isn’t it! I might have to write it out somewhere I can read it regularly! x
I love it! It’s such a great way to look at life, say yes, go for it, remove the net and then you have to fly. Such wonderful advice. Thanks so much for sharing this with #candidcuddles xx
It’s great isn’t it! Such a great way to live life, you just have to be brave enough to go for it which is what I’m still working on! x
What a great saying to live by. I lived so much of my life before I had kids that I really have no regrets. I traveled, I was in a band, I built a career. And now I am happy to define myself as a mother and wife. Popping over from #candidcuddles!
Sounds like you’ve said yes to all the right things all along! x
I remember when I heard of the YES diet…. I couldn’t go through with that because it required not saying no for a specific period of time, ie one week… but just saying YES more is doable! Thanks for the inspiration…. found you via #CandidCuddles
Oh I haven’t heard of the yes diet! It does sound a bit extreme to me, I think it’s important to still be able to say no as well! x
I’ve started saying yes more often and it definitely opens up more doors and opportunities. Its sometimes scary but I just think: “What’s the worst that can happen?” I think it’s often life experiences that lead us to realise we need to say yes more and make changes.
I think I need to ask myself that question more if I’m scared to say yes to something! x
